Dreamy Teen Bedroom.

It's been a long time coming and we finally pulled my daughter's room together..

My daughter Emily, in the picture below was only 7 years of age when we first bought our home back in August of 2011. Now, can you imagine the excitement she went through when she first found out she was moving into a new big girl's bedroom? Yes, in deed it was an exciting time in our lives. Her room was far bigger than any other room she'd ever had and there is no denial she was quite ecstatic about that. It was the beginning of a new chapter for our little family and we couldn't wait to get started designing her bedroom in our new home.

Here, she was all smiles when she was only 7 years old, holding on to one of her monster high dolls in her new room. She’s going to hate me for this…

Overall, the room had a great layout, but as you can see, her new bedroom called for a fresh new look. Our first step needed to start making some changes was a new coat of fresh paint, removal of the outdated vertical blinds and old stained carpet. (Small nook on the right corner.)

Throughout the years, we tried everything as she grew, but trying to satisfy my daughter's needs in her dream room soon became a big challenge for me. She was extremely picky as her design aesthetic changed overtime. I ended up putting her room transformation on hold since I had a tight schedule going to school and/or working a part time job.

Meanwhile, we would make small changes from time to time in phases to make her room feel more like her own with her ever-changing style. Room tours on youtube were so popular at the time that my daughter began watching them on the daily, only to get inspired by all the awesome rooms she loved, and refining her style.

We tried so many different color palettes and accessories before finally narrowing down her design aesthetic. The corals and hot pinks were a beautiful combo, but she quickly outgrew the colors she once loved since they became too bright and saturated for her taste. According to her the room needed a glowup. So off we were to chose a new color palette.

Soft pink pastels started to appeal to her new design style, and because she was now becoming a teen with a new design flare, we chose Chai S270-2 from Behr for her walls. It's a much softer hue, but flexible enough to incorporate other pops of color she may gravitate to in the near future or as the seasons change.

Now...after much thought and consideration, it was time to pull her room together and finish it once and for all, and because we were on a tight budget, we chose items that were budget friendly.

Finally, this room is complete; nice touches of soft pinks and shimmer...just what a girl wants and needs.

A nice floral arrangement to give this room that feminine touch…
